Artlightenment Founder Robyn Morshead to Receive 2015 Aesthetics and Dreams Award

While the Artlightenment Festival began as an artist’s dream to help other artists and promote the art of existence, it is now inspiring countless others in the Music City, and for this reason, the founder of the art show and film festival will be receiving the 2015 Aesthetics and Dreams Award from the Church of Scientology & Celebrity Centre Nashville.

Artlightenment will hold its 7th annual festival this year. Robyn Morshead, the festival’s founder and an artist and filmmaker herself, gears the event toward the advancement of every artist and filmmaker who participates or attends.

The festival will run the second weekend of November, from the 12th - 14th. As has become custom, there will be a film festival on Thursday and Friday, with the art show formally opening on Saturday at noon. An artist reception will take place Saturday night immediately followed by the awards ceremony and a fashion show.

Morshead will be receiving the Aesthetics and Dreams Award during a private celebration at the end of June for her dedication to helping other artists shine and inspiring a movement which is uplifting Nashville through the arts.

The Artlightenment festival takes place November 12 – 14 at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre Nashville, 1130 8th Ave S, and all are welcome. Prospective participants may submit their film or artwork online at artlightenment.com.

The Way to Happiness Offering Education Seminars

The Tennessee Chapter of The Way to Happiness Foundation is now offering educational seminars for children or adults.

In an immoral world, there is a chance to bring hope and uplift society, and it begins with education.

The Way to Happiness Foundation brings education to both children and adults alike on the subject of morality. The Foundation distributes a book of the same name which was written by L. Ron Hubbard, and is comprised of 21 precepts.

Each precept demonstrates that one’s survival depends on the survival of others—and that without the survival of others, neither joy nor happiness are attainable. In the two decades since it was authored, some 80 million copies of the book passed hand to hand, thus inspiring an international movement.

The Tennessee chapter of The Way To Happiness Foundation is reaching out and offering seminars and free copies of the booklet. Copies of the booklet may be found distributed at local fairs, in neighborhoods and at large-scale events. The chapter also welcomes new voices who wish to take part in the movement.

To accompany the booklet, there is an entire film which illustrates the book’s concepts. The film is presented in the spirit of the book itself, which is a road map to a happier life through values of compassion and caring.  Additionally there is an educator’s guide book and materials are available to supplement the use of the films in a classroom environment which are available by request. The full array of materials are made available to any educators who wish to use them in their classrooms.

One volunteer for the program said, “This booklet, when distributed to people in need, has such a great effect. You see whole communities turn around when they learn the values contained within. It is a very powerful tool.” For more information, visit thewaytohappiness.org.

United for Human Rights Takes Education to Youth

United for Human Rights is a program which brings human rights to life through audio-visual aids for students anywhere.

Freedom doesn’t have to be a nebulous concept, and thanks to the materials provided by United for Human Rights, it can be a solid reality for all. The United for Human Rights program is designed to raise awareness and respect for human rights by educating the population and simultaneously persuading governments to uphold the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In Tennessee, the campaign is reaching out directly to help students understand their basic rights. “Materials are free of charge to educators,” says Rev. Brian Fesler, who coordinates the program locally. “We want to reach everyone – every man, woman and child deserves to know their basic rights and we are working to achieve this.”

Fesler is encouraging educators, government workers and others to visit the website humanrights.com to get free materials so they can start passing on this information.

The United for Human Rights program includes booklets on What Are Human Rights? and the Story of Human Rights, the Story of Human Rights short film and the 30 public service announcements which illustrate each of the points to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Further, the complete education package contains all of these things plus a complete curriculum that educators can use in classrooms.

The humanrights.com website is an interactive learning center complete with information including all videos and downloadable materials. Lastly, a virtual education program is available as an app downloadable for iPhones and iPads.

“These materials are user friendly and available to anyone,” said Fesler. For more information about United for Human Rights, visit humanrights.com.

Drug-Free South Takes Community Outreach to a New High

The Truth About Drugs program provides teachers, law enforcement and community groups with effective drug education materials.

Drug-Free South (DFS) is reaching out and encouraging all to celebrate the upcoming International Day Against Drug Abuse, which takes place each year on June 26. Drug-Free South is the Tennessee Chapter of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, which provides the Truth About Drugs booklets, The “They Said, They Lied” public service announcements, and the 100-minute documentary, The Truth About Drugs: Real People, Real Stories which all work together to provide students the facts on drugs.

According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, “June 26 is the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1987, this day serves as a reminder of the goals agreed to by Member States of creating an international society free of drug abuse.” It is a unique day to take a stand against a problem that affects all of us.

Drug-Free South (DFS) helps kids understand the truth about drugs, so they don’t get caught off-
guard when a dealer is trying to talk them into doing something they will always regret. That is why volunteers for the group are making themselves available to visit schools and share information on the Truth About Drugs.

Drug-Free South is dedicated to handling the drug problem in Tennessee, and wants to encourage all educators to visit drugfreesouth.org to schedule a drug education seminar in their school. Parents and teachers can order Truth About Drugs booklets and DVDs free of charge from the website or download the free Truth About Drugs Education Application onto their iPads or iPhones. For more information on the Truth About Drugs program, or to order materials, visit drugfreesouth.org.

Hubbard Dianetics Foundation Celebrated 65th Anniversary of Dianetics on Saturday

For anyone who has experienced self-doubt, depression, anxiety or unreasonable fears, the book Dianetics: the Modern Science of Mental Health is the resource to turn to for answers and guidance.

The book was written in 1950 for the man on the street to better himself and the lives of others around him. Now, 65 years later, its impact is still felt across the world. People traveled from far and wide to attend the anniversary event held in Nashville, Tennessee where awards were given to counselors and trainers on the subject.

When “Dianetics: the Modern Science of Mental Health” was published on May 9, 1950, it sparked a movement. Since its release date, the book has become the best selling self-help book of all time.

Humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard, who authored the text, wrote in prodigious volume, totaling more than fifteen million words between 1929 and 1941. Hubbard’s prolific writing career funded his research into the mind, enabling him to travel across much of the United States, the Caribbean and Asia.

With case material collected from several decades of research, Hubbard completed Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, and it was released on May 9, 1950. It was on the New York Times bestseller list for twenty-eight consecutive weeks and inspired what newspaper headlines described as “Dianetics-taking U.S. by storm,” “Dianetics – Overnight Whirlwind Success” and “Dianetics: A study of the mind – fastest growing ‘movement’ in America.”

Dianetics has since become a global phenomenon with the book now available in 165 nations in 50 languages. Today, L. Ron Hubbard’s works are studied and applied daily in over a thousand Dianetics centers, Scientology churches, missions and organizations around the world. The Dianetics Seminar has seen much success in Nashville where it is delivered out of the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation, a department within the Church of Scientology.

For more information on Dianetics, visit the Dianetics website www.dianetics.org. For an interactive audiovisual overview of the life and works of L. Ron Hubbard, visit www.lronhubbard.org.
